With Men’s Fashion Week S/S 2025 upon us, anticipation builds as we eagerly await the latest style revelations.
London Fashion Week Men’s (7 - 9 June 2024)
As the European summer draws in, so too does the month of men's fashion. June is dedicated to menswear and saw London as its first stop. London Fashion Week proved to be more than runway shows this year, it was an all-encompassing experience for both insiders and admirers of all things fashion. In celebration of its 40th year, guest curators contributed panel discussions commemorating Black culture centred around self-love; South Asian culture with a focus on pattern, textile and craftsmanship; and queer culture, with a spotlight on young creative voices from the trans community.
It wasn’t all politics though, #LFW once again provided an exciting warm up. Denzil Patrick reminded us not to overlook those newer brands. Three years after Creative Director Daniel Gayle launched the menswear brand, it is blooming in London and beyond. His SS25 collection titled “One More Time With Feeling” encompassed British traditional silhouettes while playing with coral and aqua tones; multipocketed, almost uniform like structures reflected the practicality of the everyday worker infused with a touch of whimsy. Another highlight was Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY who proved the use of primary colours doesn’t diminish what can only be described as perfect chaos.
Milan Fashion Week Men's (15 - 19 June 2024)
When it comes to Milan, we have a lot to look forward to. A show not to miss? Sabato De Sarno, Gucci’s creative director's second run at menswear. Having previously taken a more sophisticated and understated approach, a clear distinction from his predecessor. De Sarno appears to be taking Gucci back to its long standing roots; Italian suave. Another fashion moment to note in the diary is JW Anderson as well as Martine Rose, the British designer's brand that has consistently shown in London, is making its debut on the Milan fashion show calendar. If Rose’s previous shows are anything to go by, anticipate daring colours and minimalism with an edge. The designer, whose brand is finally receiving the much-deserved recognition, has enjoyed great success showcasing in London. Will her vision resonate within the Italian fashion scene?
Only as of late are we seeing a return to dedicated menswear shows. Since the pandemic we have seen fashion houses opt for combining both womenswear and menswear however, finally we’re witnessing the resurgence of solo men's shows. Believe it or not, menswear does have a significant place on the runway and deserves its own spotlight. Structured tailoring and timeless designs, now deemed trendy, were once and will continue to be integral parts of a man's staple wardrobe. Through elaborate and bold designs, menswear can be reimagined and brought to life for the modern man or woman because let’s face it, everyone looks good in a power suit.
Paris Fashion Week Men's (18 – 23 June 2024)
Considered the fashion capital of the world, Paris will serve as the backdrop for the finale of Men's Fashion Month. It’s here we will see Pharrell Williams present his third Louis Vuitton menswear collection. Known for pulling out all the stops, his previous June show saw the designer shut down Paris’ Pont Neuf, the city's oldest bridge. It was a breath-taking and lavish event that perfectly complemented his collection. His upcoming show, scheduled for 8:30 PM on June 18, will likely be just as pervasive on social media. Other notable brands taking to the runway include Acne Studios, Dior, AMI Alexandre Mattiussi and Loewe.
