On Tuesday, 19 November, the Casper Magazine team attended Kangan Institute’s Enchanted Fashion Show—an inspired showcase of Australia’s next generation of designers, makeup artists, and stylists.
Held at the stunning Leonda by the Yarra, the evening welcomed us into a lush, ethereal setting draped in greenery and blooms, echoing the magic of an enchanted forest. The night began with a striking performance by models donning bird-inspired designs—a theatrical prelude to a show that was anything but ordinary.
The collections that followed embodied the imagination and raw talent of young creatives. High school students took center stage with Runway Dream, a collection that reinterpreted nature through intricate floral embellishments. The highlight? A gown worn by guest model violeta Zuvela, who captivated the audience as she evoked the spirit of Mother Nature herself.
Another standout was The Angels of Eden, which paired 1960s Hollywood glamour with garden-party whimsy. Flowing silhouettes, wide-brimmed hats, and vintage sunglasses turned the runway into a modern-day Eden, offering designs that felt both nostalgic and refreshingly wearable.
In a bold twist, Explorative Spirits introduced a unique concept: models showcased garments in their raw, unfinished states, complete with measuring tape and sketches. Moments later, their “finished” counterparts joined them on the runway, illustrating the transformation of an idea into reality—a clever homage to fashion’s creative journey.
The night also spotlighted sustainability with Ethical Echo, a collection crafted entirely from second-hand pieces sourced from Australian Red Cross shops. These students redefined tailoring with gender-neutral suits that celebrated heritage while embracing modernity, proving that fashion can be both innovative and conscious.
Kangan Institute’s Enchanted Fashion Show wasn’t just an evening of style; it was a glimpse into the boundless future of Australian fashion. These budding designers brought fresh perspectives, creativity, and an inspiring commitment to sustainability—proof that the industry’s next chapter is in exceptional hands.
