Fashion Brands Rally to Aid Los Angeles Wildfire Victims

As we've all been following the devastating fires in Los Angeles, I myself have been glued to the news for updates on the latest catastrophes unfolding before our eyes. It's an eerie and painful reminder of the bushfires that ravaged Australia during the 2019–20 Black Summer—one of the most intense and catastrophic fire seasons on record here in Australia. We know all too well here in Australia how completely devastating fires can be—the loss, the fear, and the long road to recovery.

Today, Los Angeles faces similar devastation. The Palisades Fire alone has scorched approximately 22,660 acres, destroying over 5,316 structures and forcing more than 150,000 residents to evacuate. Tragically, at least 16 lives have been lost. (According to The Times)

In these harrowing times, the fashion and beauty industries have shown remarkable unity and compassion. Brands are pausing business as usual to provide tangible support to affected communities. Los Angeles-based fashion label Clare V. has closed all its city stores, even those outside the evacuation zones, prioritizing safety and directing efforts toward relief initiatives. Clare V. has also launched a dedicated line of merchandise, with proceeds going directly to wildfire relief efforts.

Similarly, Veronica Beard has shuttered its Melrose and Beverly Hills stores while donating to the Red Cross. Brands like Donni and Dôen have halted e-commerce operations and closed warehouses to focus on community support.

Retail spaces have been transformed into donation drop-off centers. Bricks and Wood and Brain Dead have opened their doors to collect essential supplies for displaced families. Beauty brand Noto Botanics has turned its Highland Park store into a donation hub, while Credo Beauty plans to distribute care packages upon reopening.

Streetwear brand The Hundreds has also stepped up, designing limited-edition apparel with all profits directed to local relief organizations supporting wildfire victims. Their campaign highlights how fashion can harness creativity to drive meaningful change.

The celebrity community has not been spared. Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Mel Gibson, and many more are among those who have tragically lost their homes. Yet, even amid personal loss, many celebrities are stepping up to support relief efforts. Kim Kardashian's brand, SKIMS, is donating clothing and essentials to families in need, and actress Jamie Lee Curtis has pledged $1 million to support victims.

As someone connected to the fashion industry, I find it profoundly moving to witness brands and creatives rally together in the face of adversity. It's a testament to how fashion can transcend aesthetics and become a powerful force for good.

If you're looking to help, here are some trusted organisations providing critical relief:

In moments like this, the resilience and unity of our communities shine through. The fashion industry—often viewed for its glamour and style—reminds us that it also holds the power to uplift and heal.

Support where you can, and let compassion lead the way.
