How Bridget Foliaki-Davis is Changing the Way We Nourish Ourselves

Part of The Power of Renewal Series

Renewal isn’t just about big, life-changing moments—it’s something we engage with every day. The choices we make, especially when it comes to our health and nutrition, have the power to transform not just our bodies but our overall well-being. Food is more than sustenance; it’s an opportunity to nourish, heal, and reset. And few understand this better than Bridget Foliaki-Davis.

As part of The Power of Renewal series, we’re spotlighting women who are redefining their industries, creating impact, and inspiring change. Bridget, the founder of Bridget’s Healthy Kitchen and creator of the 28-Day Boost Camp, has dedicated her career to reshaping the way we think about food. With over 30 years of experience in luxury kitchens—including as Head Chef for culinary icon Bill Granger and leading the VIP Kitchen at Google—Bridget’s journey took a transformative turn when she realised that true wellness starts from within.

Your personal health journey has been so inspiring—how did your experience as a VIP chef lead you to the development of your gut health-focused recipes?

As a chef, I’ve always had a knack for cooking and creating delicious dishes, but I never truly understood how to eat. For years, I failed to see the connection between the food I prepared, how I consumed it, and how it affected my body. I categorised food as simply "good" or "bad," without considering whether it was nourishing or harmful to my health.

It wasn’t until I reached a breaking point with my weight, health, and a slew of illnesses that I was forced to take a hard look at myself and the role food played in my body.

The turning point came when I was invited to appear on television to promote my new cookbook. The thought of stepping onto a national stage carrying the extra weight I had gained, feeling sluggish and lacking confidence, was the final push I needed to take action. I was determined to make a change.

I began frantically searching online for ways to lose weight quickly. My searches kept leading me to what I now recognise as fundamental principles of gut health. Armed with this knowledge, I put on my chef’s hat—literally—and returned to my kitchen with a new mission: to make "diet" food just as delicious as the meals I had always loved.

The journey wasn’t just about losing weight; it was about redefining my relationship with food and discovering how to nourish my body without sacrificing flavour or joy.

With a large and engaged community, what role does storytelling and personal connection play in growing your brand?

Stories keep the community engaged, sparking conversations and inspiring others to share their own experiences. It’s through these shared narratives that we truly connect and grow together. The message I share daily in our communities needs a personal touch to truly resonate, as the world of nutritional science can be overwhelming to digest.

On top of that, much of what I share often goes against what we’ve been taught or exposed to when it comes to health and weight loss. With so much new and vital information to process, stories become the bridge that helps us relate, absorb, and retain what we’re learning. They also add an element of fun, turning education into entertainment.

What do you see as the biggest misconceptions around gut health, and how do you challenge those through your work?

One of the most common misconceptions I encounter, both from the public and other practitioners, is the belief that pills, potions, and supplements are essential for improving and maintaining good gut health. As a nutritionist, I don’t prescribe supplements to my clients—I prescribe food, glorious food!

I champion the idea of food as healing, food as medicine, food as energy and food as love. When we nourish our bodies with nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory foods rich in fiber, high-quality protein, and healthy fats, we’re not just feeding ourselves—we’re healing our gut, restoring our body and showing ourselves love.
