This year's exhibition showcased an eclectic mix of over 75 projects by 100 artists and collectives, highlighting the rich diversity of contemporary art. Highlights included the awe-inspiring neon light installation by Tracey Emin, Maison Schiparelli’s cutting-edge fashion pieces, Yoko Ono's captivating multimedia projection, Sheila Hicks' colorful fibre sculpture, and David Shrigley’s impactful seven-meter 'thumbs up' sculpture.
Outside the gallery, the streets transformed into an impromptu runway, with gala attendees braving the rain to flaunt their unique fashion styles. Captured through the lens of Beauty In Our Cultures photographer Suleima Thomas, these fashion choices ranged from avant-garde to elegantly subdued, echoing the creative spirit of the Triennial. Each ensemble on the rain-slicked street was a personal statement, blending art with fashion in a vivid display of creativity and resilience. Despite the downpour, the NGV Gala's street fashion scene shone brightly, showcasing the enduring bond between artistic expression and fashion, and reinforcing Melbourne's status as a vibrant hub for art and style.
