In February, Coach presented their Fall 2025 ‘Ready-to-Wear’ Collection during New York Fashion Week. The line created by British designer, Stuart Vevers, aimed to celebrated the styles of the past whilst catapulting the designs of the future into the limelight at one of the biggest fashion events of the year.
Vevers famously draws inspiration from youth culture in all generations, with particular focus on American youth culture post World War Two and its ability to take older garments or accessories and reinvigorate it to adapt to the modern times.
From the get-go, you can instantly recognise the Gen-Z influence on this collection through the designer’s androgynous style that adapts to every model it graces the body of. Whilst each look does embody its own sense of individuality, the inclusion of each model wearing a variation of trousers expresses Vevers’ desire for gender equality in the future and how that progression is being spearheaded by this generation through the gender neutrality of their clothing.
Furthermore, the palette of the showcase is flooded with familiar tones that explore the potential of staple colours as blacks, browns and navy’s, with an emphasis on leather designs and rectangular sunglasses, combining a timeless style with an accessory that embodies the aesthetic of Gen Z.
The overall result creates a collection that cannot fit into the mould of any generation of young fashion, as it is a style that looks to the future, that isn’t able to be defined yet due to its unique tapestry of generational influence coming together to create an aesthetic that perfectly encapsulates the unlimited potential that the world of fashion has to showcase from fresh, ingénue minds that are about to inherit it.
