Conjuring the dorm rooms of the Caten’s past as the backdrop to their teenage-inspired collection, Dsquared2 presented us with an array of freaky figures as geeks, goths, starlets, and emos strutted down the runway in all their adolescent glory.
Opened by Tik Tok stars Nic Kaufmann and Jean Carlo Jashlem, Dsquared’s show exhibited a wonderfully camp, gender-bent collection, which saw men and women stalk down the runway in an epic mashup of Gen Z’s post-ironic Y2K favourites. This included crop-tops, fringe jackets, ultra-low cargos and jeans, teddy bear bombers, and, yes, leather jockstraps, which were layered over trucker caps, chunky belts, and lots of cowboy boots.
Some highlights of the collection are pink babydoll tees over painted jeans with fur bags, lace cami tops situated between parkers and cargo shorts, and sheer criss-cross dresses over denim underwear.
Sexy, subversive, and a little silly, Dsquared2 has hit the mark with this Gen Z-inspired collection, officially putting the fun in fashion for 2023!
